Emails with log info sent FROM Wrong Email address
Status: Solved
ID: LB6VW-58Z
Content: I am using Acajoom Plus 5.1.1. All my site is configured to send emails FROM the email account hosted on the server (let's say: info@mycompanyname.com). When I say all my site, I mean that I use that email account in the following places:
- Joomla's Global configuration (configurd to use php mail function)
- Acajoom Configuration
- My newsletter's "Sender Email" filed
Thus, my newsletters get correctly sent FROM info@mycompanyname.com.

However, let's say that the email address of the user who sent the newsletter is: adminuser@somecompany.com. Then, the FROM/TO fields of the emails having the log information (those sent when "Send Log" is set to Yes in Acajoom's Configuration) are sent as follows:

FROM: adminuser@somecompany.com (this is NOT correct. It should be sent FROM info@mycompanyname.com)

TO: adminuser@somecompany.com (this is correct)

This is a big problem on some web hosting providers because as part of their anti-spam policies, you are not allowed to send emails from email addresses Not hosted on the server. The following error log explains it:
"Sending mails from addresses not hosted on our server is not allowed. Please check the MAIL FROM settings of your mail client and make sure you set the MAIL FROM address to an email account which is hosted on the server".

This is a problem only on emails sending the log info. Can you guys make it consistent and make the MAIL FROM be the same email address as the one used for the newsletters? (in my example, the MAIL FROM should be set to: info@mycompanyname.com)

Thanks,

Carlos

Just got an email saying this ticket was going to be closed because you hadn't heard back from me in the last 5 days and therefore, you'd consider this to be resolved.

Well, it's not solved. It's me who haven't heard any updates from you.

Regards,

Carlos

Hi Carlos,

We apologize for the late reply and thank you so much for the patience.

The logs are being sent to the creator of the newsletter list.
The FROM also is the address of the creator.

As of now, this is the flow.
The sender's address will be the FROM because she/he is the creator and sender of the list.

Most of the customers as well, would like to have their email address as the FROM since they are the one creating the newsletter.

Hope you understand.

Kind Regards,
Mary

I know that tje ;pgs are beomg semt tp tje creator of the newsletter list (this is good), and that the FROM is also the address of the creator (this is what's wrong). I believe this is still a problem because it simply won't work on some hosts because of the anti-spam polciies I mentioned. It is a good anti-spam policy Not to allow sending emails from an email addrees that is NOT hosted on the server.Replied: 25 February 2010

Hi Carlos,

We apologize for the late reply and thank you so much for the patience.

Oh I see.
We understand your concern for the emails might be directed in the spam folder.

We'll try to check this out and we'll try to find a way or make some preferences in the configuration so that the FROM of the newsletter will be the same email address in the global configuration.

We'll be adding this feature in the feature requests list.

Thank you so much for the patience and understanding.

Kind Regards,
Mary
