June 3, 2010Points to consider before migrating. - For some, Smartnewsletter works in Acajoom pro.
- Smartnewsletter does NOT work in Jnews at this time.
- Statistics do NOT work in Jnews
- Jnews will send out thousands of emails, overloading your server.
Procedure to Install Jnews - Backup your Database and copy your Acajoom Templates Folders to your computer.
- Be sure you have your Token from Joobi
- I would contact Joobi Live chat, they are great, tell them what you want to do. They can send you the very latest copy of JNEWS and Your Token if you do not have it, they can also make sure your installation of jnews is already ready to go with the correct license working. Make sure to get the link from them that tells all the setup info, the instructions. Have it open and ready for after you get the script installed in case you do not understand some of the configuration settings.
- If you run a cron on your server, copy the script you are using into a notepad doc and put it into a file on your computer where you can find it.
- Do NOT uninstall ACAJOOM PRO
- Have Joobi Support, live chat email you the latest version of JNEWS.
- Install JNEWS your typical way. I am assuming you know how to do this.
- Once it is installed, you will need to upload your old templates or create new ones. I can help you with that. info at thezone.biz.
- Once installed, go to the configuration tab in the JNEWS component link and setup all configuration tabs. If there are some you do not understand, refer to the link I told you to get from Live Chat.
- Once you have installed JNEWS, you can test it out by sending a newsletter.
JNEWS and ACAJOOM are still in testing phases, so while it is pretty awesome.. they do not work totally as yet. Hopefully in the near future, with all of us users testing it, they will make it work like it should. Then, it will be one of the most awesome software titles out there. Remember, if you have Acajoom pro smart newsletter working, JNEWS smart newsletter does NOT work yet.

@Chucknology -- thank you for taking time to put your inquiry and comments here. Currently, jNews is not yet integrated with the K2-Plugin. We will consider this as feature request and evaluate this if we can include this in the future releases.
I also sent you an email regarding this to your chucknology@gmail.com email account...

@qualityacademy -- jNews is an upgrade of Acajoom. It was created from scratch with a new structure which also takes some concepts of Acajoom. Though under the same product line (newsletter system), jNews is even more stable than Acajoom with powerful features--the Queue Management, Advanced Statistics, and Template Management. These are just a few of the major features of jNews, which are not in Acajoom.

I used Acajoom with a K2-plugin before on a website but I want to take the step to jNews Pro for our company. Seems jNews doesn't support the use of K2 items (I couldn't find anything about this 'till now). Anyone an idea if there's a plugin that integrates K2 in jNews?
Great component but without K2 integration it's of no use for me.

I am using acajoom plus, and quite happy with it, but it can be touchy when explaining all its little foibles to new users of the system.
I am thinking of upgrading to JNews pro - is there a demo I can look at so I can see how much better it is than acajoom?
Are you going to retire acajoom?
J

Reading between the lines I get the impression jNews is the follow-up for Ajacoom. If so, why is there nothing mentioned about procedures to migrate from one to another?
